![]() There's also an encyclopedia you can fill up documenting the textures of things you touch from Sharkskin to carpet tassels to your butler's iron maiden bed and your best friend's floating hair. You play as Mackenzie, having just obtained your detectives license and being named the Touch Detective, and you solve mysteries. It's just gone 2 years since the Japanese release and there's been no word of any localisation. Beeworks is quite a small company so in their view, a localisation might be too costly for not too great a return possibly. The first two games got mixed - average reviews. Game Name: Touch Detective Rising 3: Does Funghi dream of Bananas.Īs is the case with a lot of point and click adventure games, it's very text heavy. It's quite popular in Japan seeing as it has gone through multiple updates since it's launch in 2012 with it's roster of cards and characters only continuing to grow to include the Shadow Dragons, Berrus, Whis, and as of recently "Resurrection " with Golden Frieza and SSGSS Goku/Vegeta. The game also features "Ultimate Mission" where you replay events from all three series. The game also doesn't strictly follow the plot of the shows and allows for some crazy "What-If" characters and fusions in addition to it's already massive roster of fighters from across DB, DBZ, DBGT, and movies including at the time "Battle Of Gods". Combat is all about timing and the one with the higher bar once stopped wins and ether attacks of defends. At certain points characters can launch special attacks or team moves and even transform by moving the card of the character in a certain way or direction as fast as you can to build up power. Why I don't think this will come out in the West?Ĭard-based battle games are not very popular in the west and even with a well-known franchise such as Dragonball it is likely due to arcades apparently dying out in the west and Bandai/Namco must not see it worth bringing the game over in any form.ĭragonball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2 is almost a straight-up port of the arcade game in which you select cards of characters you've gotten including a player avatar you create and level up and pit a team of up to five against ether another team or a giant foe. It also remains to be seen how interesting, and more importantly fun, this Phoenix Wright style detective work will be.Game Name: Dragonball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2 Once it’s localized, we’ll get to see for sure. According to an Atlus rep, the main character will solve crimes for other people, but the demo seemed to indicate an overarching story found in RPGs. It also functions to move the gameplay forward. The top screen shows your main characters thoughts, including during cutscenes, and even when she’s talking. Plot will be heavy, as will dialogue and text. ![]() ![]() The main character is a girl, and she apparently has a butler, a mom, and an arch-nemesis. This triggers a cutscene that doesn’t seem to end. After you get out, you can go to a phone and make a call. When you combine these items (you actually have to click the empty eye socket on the skull to insert the emerald), you can open the case and unlock the door. The items you find in the room are a jewelry case with a skull on it, and an emerald. Control in the game is entirely touch-based: if you touch something, your character will walk to it and pick it up, if possible. A creature nearby talks with you and seems to be your sidekick. When you first begin the game, you are locked in a room, likely your own. With a little intuition, I could snake my way around, and found it to have a lot of potential. Unfortunately, the game shown on the floor is entirely in Japanese, and text is a large part of the gameplay. Random E3 Game Alert: Touch Detective is yet another quirky Japanese import courtesy of Atlus, and I can’t wait to play it in English.
